Microsoft Looking To Acquire Skype
Posted on | May 10, 2011 | Comments Off
In the news today is the report that Microsoft is ready to announce that it is acquiring Skype for $8.5 billion. They are indeed paying a premium on the acquisition, and Microsoft doesn’t have the best track record of acquiring companies, so I’m a little skeptical.
It could be a good move long term of the Skype functionality and user base can be integrated into existing assets like Microsoft Office to further enhance and solidify the position of some of Microsoft’s offerings.
There’s definitely some uncertainty here, and this further demonstrates why we have a strict entry point we are looking for when acquiring shares in Microsoft.
